Youth In Trouble

The Presets are back. I'm so happy. This year is turning out to be really good for music. After 4 years of waiting The Presets are dropping their very anticipated next album titled "Youth in Trouble" on September 7th. Their acclaimed last album Apocalypso with packed with well produced original sounding music. I get the feeling that this new one will be that and more. Which is important because as I have grown so has my music taste, and their evolution seems to be on track with my own.

Another Modular act, The Presets hail from down under and kick way too much ass. Before party rock and all that, these guys come from the scene that invented shuffling, and took music into another dimension. The Presets are one of the premiere and O.G. acts from the beginning of the ENTIRE hipster indie electro scene. Much love for these guys, they started a lot of us off. They set the bar. Trust.

Here's the video for the second release from the new album, "Ghosts." It's very well directed. Gives a nice stylistic ambiance to the sound. These guy know what they're doing.

And since 6 years later, theyve aged, and Ive read that they have families now. No doubt with bombshell wives, but anyway the beats side of the act, K.I.M., as he goes by, looks like he got pretty fat. The years of partying are noticable, but I don't think they were that young when they started anyway.

Only K.I.M. could rock a hat like that so hard.

This is the next level for The Presets, they always amaze, I'm too excited for the musical journey that we are all about to go on as new singles and remixes are released and their sound influences the rest.

This is About Plastic Plates

I want to start blogging about my favorite new dj Plastic Plates. Honestly, I dont know why I haven't mentioned him earlier. Maybe I was trying to keep him all to myself; or maybe I didnt really have an in, not until now anyway. See Van She, has a new album out "Idea of Happiness," and while I havent really cared much for Van She since like 08, their new stuff is full of win, and they have an awesome new video for their hit summer jam, "Jamaica."

Moving on, Plastic Plates who has a ton of ridiculously goood remixes that have been pumping out since last year.(this guy really came out of nowhere) Has a remix of Jamaica which is a much better choice for a dancey situation. So from now on, if you see me post something of Plastic Plates, get on it immediately.

Dance To The Music

Oh shit, the coolest white boy on the block, Gigamesh, has created something special once more. This song doesn't even need an explanation, just listen and download it.

Escape Your Situation

Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors is on fire when it comes to vocals. First, she hooked up with Rusko on the track "Hold On" which in my opinion isn't quite dubstep, which is probably why I enjoy it. Now with Diplo she has topped herself on "Get Free." Mind you these songs arent particularly new or disco, but the lyrics and sounds and visuals of this video had to be shared with you all. Its good to branch out a little and explore what the other side of the dance scene is doing.

btw, for those of you who didn't figure this out years ago. Major Lazer was just a project of Diplo and Switch, but now it's just Diplo. Not some black guy from jamaica. Did I ruin the magic for you?

Slim Pickens These Days

Another europlayful favorite, Estate, just unofficially dropped a new EP last week.

The duo from Minneapolis still to my knowledge has never played in LA. Shame on them. But at least they've stayed active for as long as I've been a fan. So they always have something sexy and fresh to keep me hooked. The vocals on this track are haunting. Estate most definitely has a future in the  world dance scene. Their productions skills are phenomenal.

Estate ain't no joke. Check this piece. And support them, keep them in the music biz because Estate sets the standard.

Estate to me is well known for their awesome self made music videos, I can't wait till I see it.

The Mile High Club

Flight Facilities! A europlayful favorite is back with a new single. It's perfect for the mood that I've been in lately. I just want to dance real close to a lady, complete with 2 step and lots of hip movement while I listen to this poppy disco jam.

Interesting direction for these guys and featuring vocals from the drummer of Hot Chip. Go Figure.I mean I absolutely love Hot Chip, but who knew the drummer got down like that.

As soon as these fuckers come to los angeles or any where near. Im gonna be there with passport in hand.

Sorry, no tracks for download yet. Must I do everything for you? No you're smart, itunes and other options are available for all your collector needs. Ill provide when I can. Goodnight.

Not So Sad Pnau Is It?

I'd kill for that jacket right now.

I am in love with this track. It's Elton John getting some remix action from two of the best producers working in Australia, the eclectic duo, Pnau. They've been around from some time. Hits here and there, nothing that ever made me stop in my tracks.

Half of Pnau used to be the brains behind Empire of the Sun, a band whom I miss oh so much, but until that incarnation comes back, I'm happy with gems like this.

2500 Page views? This is Bigger Than Us.

Straight back into the fray, ladies and gentlemen. I was out of the music blog game for 7 months but with the help of trusted friends and nightlife outings, I stayed relative.

Couple of updates for all of you who care.

*This site is still being remodeled and I cant wait for it to be done. Its no fault of the designers' that it has taken this long. I've already seen a mock up, they definitely have skills, but the color scheme is off to me. We will continue to hone in on the perfect look.

*I have asked 2 of my most legit music aficionados to come onto the europlayful team. Each one with their own unique sound preference and knowledge of the scene. They will bring a diverse density that this blog desperately needs. More info on those two later.

*Also, I will be working on an events section. If you dig on the sounds that I dig on, then lets party together. Music is fab through a great pair of headphones, but it's a million times better when you are dancing. I will be creating a calendar listing artist tour dates and which that this team will be making an appearance.

I swear to you that we are on the verge of the disco explosion, let's be on the float when the parade marches through.

Somehow, I got more page-views while I've been away than when I was consistently active. More people are searching for the things I posted back in december than ever.

Hostile Waters!

Flight Facilities has a new video out for their newest track, Foreign language. It's awesome, filled with leisure suits and super bad broads. Oh and a kick ass brother man. Check it out, or you fail. I've loved these guys sinced they churned out "Crave You" which is a groovy dance track with  some sexy vocals. But after hearing this disco masterpiece with sexy vocals, sign me up. Oh but wait, once again a great act, touring in Australia.

Fuck you Australia, stop having all the good music.

Come With Me If You Want To Disco

Another europlayful favorite, Treasure Fingers has a new original hit making the club rounds. If you're not familiar with him, he's really the DJ who started the Nu-disco revolution. I'm sure there were others before him making electronica tracks in the funky house style of disco, but he was the first to find success at it in the mid 2000's. Part of his success, I think is due to the convenient boom of music blog era. He really paved the way for other favorites such as, Estate, Gigamesh, The Twelves, Plastic Plates, and others. He has a huge slew of remixes with some of the biggest names in the business as well. And he was instumental in Atlanta's electronica dance revival. To this day, he is still a juggernaught in the remix blogosphere.

And he is such a nice guy, if you check his blog you'll notice that he posts a short mix of the week, every week. He keeps me happy.

Enjoy. This fresh beat with an old school style and slick vocals.

Gigamesh Is On Fire

Gigamesh has had an amazing year. He is absolutely one of my favorite dj's and he is making exactly the kind of music that this blog is all about.

A hot new track that samples earth wind and fire. Just in time for new years.

Download the track here.

Estate, where art thou?

Posting this video for nostalgia.

Estate - Insecurity Camera from Estate on Vimeo.

Estate is one of my favorite artists of all time. They have a fair sized discography, but it's not enough. They could be dominating the scene right now, but no, they're lying back. In wait maybe. I imagine that they are working on their next album. And Aside from that I'd love to see these guys perform live, but as far as I can tell they stay close to minneapolis. :(

Something Just Like This

Due to the death of a close and dear family member, I wasn't able to update the last few days, but life goes on and so must this blog.

Beni, not to be confused with the Benassi or Asian pop star variety, is someone I never really paid much attention to, despite the fact that my iPhone was rocking a track of his as my ringtone for over 2 years. (Beni - Maximus) So really it's a coincidence that I've run across his latest Album, "House of Beni." Which I say is one of the best of the year. It's no wonder he's signed with the australian label, Modular, which is responsible for many great artists, like Chromeo, The Rapture, Cut Copy, and The Presets to name a few. And to this day is still my favorite label.

And here are my two favorite Tracks from the Ep.

It's A Bubble (feat. Sean deLear and Turbotito) by listentobeni

It's getting real hot these days with the feds and google, so I can't post up downloads as often as I like, but if you're smart you'll figure out how to get these tracks on your own.

Happy Hunting

Oh yeah and for kicks, here's the video for Maximus.

Moombahton, why not?

Many of you probably are well aware of Moombahton. but if you don't, it's hard to describe. It's like the UK's version of dubstep. (Even though it was started in the US, I think the UK is totally going to run away with it) Too me it's nice because it's more about hard hitting beats rather than noise and distortion. With Reggaeton influences it's very Tribal in essence, which is what gives it that signature sound. Slower, HARD beats. And another thing, if the misfits weren't stuck in an alternate dimension where all the music is about 4 years old. They'd be listening to this. Or Curtis, Alisha, and Kelly would anyway.

This remix of Toot it up is so popular it's sort if considered the original, since it's probably the biggest Moombahton song of the year. Hell it is a dancefloor killer. Can't hate on it.
