Partying in New York

Oh how I miss it so. And the video for "Barba Steisand" by Ducksauce only makes me miss it more. The video reminds me of my party days in LA and New York when I was younger and the scene was so fresh and exciting. And a lot of the cats that I listen to and used to party with are all with the Fool's Gold label. Smart move, especially when you watch the video you realize that fools gold is still partyin well. Even some of my friends from the Dim Mak scene show up in the vid. It just hits too close to home for me.
I also love this video because the audio is very altered from the original. I like this because everybody and their mom has been jammin out to the hilarious and sick as fuck sound of Barbra Steisand since the late summer.

Besided the horrible Barbra cosplayer that won't shut up during the video, I got off on other things. P-thugg's vocals are great, and some of the scratching in the video is amazing, and I can't figure out who he is atm, but the black guy adding some keyboard late in the vid is amazing. Loved that sound.

If you haven't seen it, watch it, and then let's go buy tickets to New York. Soon.

Keep Up!

Treasure Fingers playing at Tuesdays at Cinespace 2008

One of my all time favorite DJ's. Treasure Fingers has been banging out the disco-electro longer than most. He's still big in the scene after 6 years or so. Even becoming synonymous with the disco sound. And his live sets are amazing. And lately he's been cranking out jams faster than usual. He may be getting ready to dominate the live scene soon, much like the crookers did after they spammed remixes left and right.

I recently came upon his newest single "Keep Up" and I love it. This particular version is remixed by Jackson and his Computer to give it more of a club vibe.

The Truth About Royksopp

For some odd reason there seems to be some confusion about Royksopp and their newest album "Senior." This Album for many dropped in September, but iTunes has it listed as coming out in October, and other sources claim that it just dropped a week or two before Thanksgiving. Now Senior is a pretty solid, but it's definitely not their best work. Which kind of saddened me because Royksopp usually finds a way to top themselves with each LP.

Melody A.M. < The Understanding < Junior > Senior

Interestingly enough, I don't consider Senior to really be their newest thing. It's a direct follow up to Junior, which is obvious due to the names. Think of it as a B-sides or something. Junior was really upbeat and had way more vocals than usual. And Senior takes them back to the melody a.m. breakbeat chill feel. One good example of this is the duality of the Tricky songs. Both of which being so-so tracks on each album, but it helps to prove my point.

Senior's Tricky Two

Now that we have discussed Senior, let's get to the meat of this post.

I think Royksopp is up to no good. In a good way. Since August they've been releasing free tracks on the their Website. Songs of the Month. These song can't be found on ANY albums, but they're absolutely gold. Some of Royksopp's best! My guess is that they'll be released on an LP coming soon, and they wont make us wait too long. My favorite is their most recent release, "I Wanna Know."

I not even going to give you the chance to preview it, you MUST download this MP3.

Also in promotion of the Album Senior, they made a nice little streaming movie with a european independent film feel to it. In it played a Track not found on Senior called "This Space." Odd move, but the track is very worthy of checking out. It has that old school Royksopp feel, but it's oh so fresh.

The particular song starts 4 and half minutes in the video. And I put up the track for the song because I know you'll want it afterward.

White Boy Can Rap!

I wish Pep rallies were that awesome when I was in High School, maybe I would've attended them.
I don't usually listen to Hip Hop, but blah blah blah blah.

Okay, so by my standards this is ancient, but I just have to show Hoodie Allen some love. I can tell this white kid is going to blow up, and I honestly would not mind it. He has good taste in beats, his lyrics are hilarious and are not just about how much money he "wishes" he had. Plus, he gets a lot of points for sampling "I Am Not a Robot" by Marina and the Diamonds, which is pretty legit.

If you dig these tracks, you should check out his site. He has his full album up for free download, which you can download here,

Really Ke$ha?

If someone had told me that I would one day be blogging Ke$ha-Fuck it, Anyway the original is absurdly annoying and reminds me why young girls are terrible human beings, but this remix by Comsic Dawn makes it so much more bearable and it has an almost eurobeat thing to it. You can definitely play this at a party and get some bodies moving. Check it out.

Now That's Dancing!

Oh europe, I love you because you love disco. Particularly the French, and some dude with the hilarious name Moonshoes has been making some groovy ass tunes. Would be nice to be able to find a few tracks to post up for y'all, but I'm always way too ahead of the game and I don't rip youtube audio. Sorry. Soon as I find some you'll be the first to know.

Check out this video he made to promote himself.

Let's Do This

So I've finally created a blog, 6 years late. Whatever, so, you may have noticed that the layout is lame and unfinished. I figured why not just start posting, you have all been missing out on great music and or updates because I've been too lazy to fuck around with Photoshop for a couple of hours. Plus, it's about the music, and not my personal brand right?
Straight up, not done yet. Powered by Blogger.
